Don't Worry, Be Happy
Matthew 6:25
Our Lord Jesus Christ pointed out that when viewing life from a spiritual view, it would be absolutely unreasonable for us
to be anxious about anything. In the scriptures it is written that we need not worry about daily provisions as it will not
add one cubit to our stature. Jesus did not say that the person who takes no thought for anything in his life is blessed -
no, that person is a fool.
But Jesus did teach that His disciple must make his relationship with God the dominating focus of his life, and to be cautiously
carefree about everything else in comparison to that. In essence, Jesus was saying, "Don’t make the provisions of food
and drink the controlling factor of your life, nor silver or gold, neither consider fine clothing the most important, but
be focused absolutely on God."
Some people are careless about what they eat and drink and many of us have been guilty of this at some points in our lives,
and many of us have suffered for it along the way. Jesus is saying that the greatest concern of life is to place our relationship
with God first, and everything and everyone else second. When we take the time to truly examine and scrutinize what He said,
He is of course absolutely right!
It is one of the most difficult, yet critical, disciplines of the Christian life to allow the Holy Spirit to bring us into
absolute harmony with the teachings of Jesus in these verses in the book of Matthew chapter six. But the real key here is
obedience to what is said. When we take more thought for “things” and what other people say than we do our relationship
with God – our focus is shifted and this is the open doorway that the enemy chooses to enter through to our lives and
he begins to wreak havoc; causing us to give away everything we have.
Remember this: God has taken care of us all since the beginning of the world. We are His Children – those that Love
Him within their heart. Why would He stop Loving and providing for us now in these last days?
